HISTORY: Universal Clay Products was founded
in 1919 in Sandusky, Ohio and started manufacturing low tension electrical
porcelain insulators made from area clays.
Since this time Universal Clay Products process
has evolved to produce a higher quality insulator to meet demanding
technical specifications and to expand its capabilities to
accommodate the diverse product requirements of customers.
In the early 1960's the company started producing refractory ceramics for
use by the foundry and investment casting industries. Several
plant expansions had been made to satisfy an increasing need
for engineered refractories to produce better castings for ferrous
and non-ferrous metals.
From the time when the company was reorganized
in January of 1994, Universal Clay Products has automated processes
improving quality and delivery times.
